The lunar nodes are the two points where the Moon's orbital plane crosses the ecliptic. The ascending intersection is called the North Node and the descending intersection the South Node. They are always opposite each other and are closely tied to eclipse geometry.
They are points, not celestial bodies
No physical object is sitting at the North Node. The nodes are calculated intersections. That makes them similar to other chart points in the sense that their astronomical definition is geometric.
Why eclipses happen near the nodes
An eclipse requires the Sun, Earth and Moon to align near the Moon's orbital crossing points. This is why eclipse seasons cluster around the nodal axis.
Mean Node and True Node
Astrology software may offer a mean lunar node or a true/oscillating node. They are slightly different mathematical treatments of the nodal motion. Ava Lux should keep the chosen calculation convention consistent rather than switching silently between charts.
Standard astrological interpretation
Modern Western astrology often reads the North Node as developmental direction and the South Node as familiarity, habit or inherited competence. Different schools add different karmic or psychological language.
The Kabbalistic Tikkun layer
A contemporary Kabbalistic-astrology convention reads the developmental side of the nodal axis through the language of Tikkun or correction. Ava Lux uses that convention transparently as a modern interpretive layer, not as a claim about what Sefer Yetzirah literally says.
Signs versus houses
The sign of a node describes the style of the polarity. The house depends on accurate birth time and describes the life arena in which the polarity is interpreted. Without reliable time, nodal house interpretation should be withheld or marked uncertain.
