Hod (Splendor / Acknowledgment) is one of the central Sefirot in the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. It is best understood relationally — as part of a system of flows and balances — rather than as a fixed personality type.
What does Hod mean?
Hod is usually translated as Splendor / Acknowledgment. In the standard Tree of Life layout it appears left side opposite Netzach. Its central interpretive field includes acknowledgment, yielding, receptivity, humility and form.
Hod inside the Tree
Hod prevents persistence from turning into domination. It creates the ability to revise, listen and submit to a reality larger than preference.
Traditional symbolic body correspondence
Later Kabbalistic teaching often maps the Sefirot onto the human form. Hod is associated with left leg in common symbolic body mappings. Ava Lux treats these as symbolic correspondences, not medical anatomy or diagnosis.
Hod is not a planet or zodiac sign
The Sefirot are Kabbalistic structures, not astronomical objects. A natal chart does not calculate “the degree of Hod.” Any connection between a Sefirah and planetary symbolism is an interpretive correspondence added by a later system.
How Ava Lux uses Hod
Name what must be acknowledged before you can move intelligently. Hod is useful when persistence has become refusal to receive feedback.
Inside the Kabbalistic Natal Chart, this question is placed beside the actual natal placements rather than substituted for them. The chart may use Hod to organize a pattern that appears through several placements, but the Sefirah itself is not pretending to be astronomical data.
Keep the whole Tree in view
No Sefirah is meant to function alone. The usefulness of Hod comes from its relationship with the other forces in the Tree. Read it alongside the ten-Sefirot overview before turning it into a personality label.
